Frequently Asked Questions
Can I get on a waitlist if the boat I want isn’t available?
Yes. Click here to be added to our waitlist. Someone will call you if the boat you want becomes available on the date you need.
How old do I have to be to rent a boat?
You must be at least 21 years old with a valid drivers license and Indiana Boater Education card or at least 24 years old with a valid drivers license.
How do I reserve a boat?
If you are 24 with a valid driver’s license you go to the boat info page and select your boat of choice. Note that there are two different prices, weekday(M-Th) or weekend (F-Su). Select one of these two choices and you will see a real time calendar with availability in darker print. Choose your date and follow the directions. Remember, there are two calendars for each boat, weekday or weekend.
What else do I have to pay for?
On the day of your reservation you will need to leave a deposit of $200.00 at the checkin. This will be refunded to you in full if there are no damages at the end of your stay.
Your boat comes fully fueled in the morning at checkin. At the end of the day your boat will be refueled and you will need to pay the fuel charge at the marina store. Unfortunately, this cannot be taken out of your deposit. Fuel cost depends on how far you travel and how often the boat is running. On average, our customers pay $20 or less.
There is no entrance fee for Cutright State Recreation Area, where Two Herons Marina is located.
How long can I rent the boat?
All rentals are from 9AM to 6PM on a single day. You can pick up your boat any time during the day. (If you haven’t shown up by noon we may call you). The rental is over at 6:00pm. If you are not at the fuel dock before 6PM you will lose your deposit.
Can I reserve a boat for someone else?
The person reserving and paying for the boat must be the same person who picks up the boat on the day of the rental.
Do boats come with a driver?
No, you are the captain. Indiana law requires you to have a valid driver’s license with you on the boat. The dockhand crew will teach the basics for handling the boat.
Do I need to bring life jackets?
All life jackets for adults are already on board. Children usually prefer their own personal life jackets. However, we do have a limited selection of child size life jackets to borrow in the marina office.
Where are the closest restrooms?
The marina has two handicap accessible bathrooms with air conditioning right next to the marina store just steps from your boat. You can come in to your dock slip any time during the day if you need a break.
Is fishing allowed?
Anyone 18 or older must have an Indiana fishing license in their possession. Licenses can be purchased at the DNR office on State Rd 446.
Are dogs allowed?
Well behaved dogs on a leash are allowed on the docks and boats. Please use the walking area at the top of the ramp and dispose waste responsibly. If your pet cannot swim please bring a dog life jacket.
Are we allowed to “raft up”?
You are not allowed to tie up to any other boat. Our boats are monsters and they will destroy other boats. You really don’t want this on your insurance. And, for the record, you are not supposed to be in Allen’s Creek.
Is alcohol allowed on the boat?
Alcohol is allowed on the lake for those 21 and older (but keep the captain sober - rules of the road apply on the lake).
What should I bring?
Sunglasses, sunscreen, snacks, hats, coolers, food and drinks, extra folding chairs, towels, water toys and rafts. Don’t bring a grill (already provided on the super and mega) or generator.
What if I forget something?
The marina store sells ice, snacks, ice cream, and canned drinks. There is a grill serving breakfast and lunch on the weekends. We carry towels, sunscreen, sunglasses, etc. as well as t-shirts, hats, and sweatshirts.
What are the store hours?
The marina store is open 9am-6pm every day. The grill serves breakfast and lunch on the weekends.
Is there an entrance fee?
No. There is no entrance fee to Cutright State Recreation Area. You can enter and park at Two Herons Marina for free.
